Thanks for the help. Found an interesting side note on page 30, where it says covering serious sins would be wrong, and to allow gross sinners to continue huting or victimizing innocent ones would be unloving!

I think for the time being, his not knowing you are behind the "letters" is a good idea, otherwise he will steer clear of you completely.
What about leaving a note with: "type in your search engine: watchtower research" ?
Why does the WT want very young children to baptize, being one of the most important decisions they'll ever make, yet says dating and marriage are only for the mature, older ones?
Why do Jehovah's Witnesses really take blood? If they are to pour the blood on the ground, how can they make the fractions used every day by JW's? And why can they use these fractions from stored blood, but can't donate blood for others use?
The Hebrew scriptures says "you are my witnesses" in Isaiah. The context is clearly speaking about the nation of Israel. Why do JW's take this verse out of context and apply it to themselves, when the Greek, NT, clearly tells us to be witnesses of Jesus in Acts 1:8?
A number of posters to this forum have given excellent questions to ask JW's. Here are the names and dates of posting. I think you can find them through the "member directory".
"Corvin" 25-Aug-04 entitled "Questions for Jehovah's Witnesses Regarding Doctrine"
"Lady Liberty" 13-Oct-06 entitled "Someone may benefit from this..regarding the Expos'es of the organization"
"Goldminer" 07-Sep-05 entitled "My list of 32 questions-Part B"
Hope some of this will help.

THE PREACHING WORK PROVES IT IS THE TRUTH

Forgot to add this to my earlier comment. JW's admit they preach a different good news, one about 1914 and the Kingdom's establishment, rather than the good news about Christ. Yet, their 1914 date is made on false assumptions, lies and deceit. The 1914 date relys completely on the accuracy of 607BC as being correct, yet they are the ONLY ones to use 607. All other references, scholars, encyclopedias etc say 586-587. If 607 is wrong, that makes 1914 wrong, 1919 and the faithful slave's appointment wrong, and the house of cards falls. They must keep that date at any expense. Perhaps you could ask your friend to prove 1914, since that's what they're really preaching. Should have some interesting conversations.
Also, that few other religions go door to door doesn't mean they aren't preaching. They are reaching far more people throughout the world thru their various ministries, than the JW's ever could. If, as the latest tract says, the end is really eminent, why are they building more and more new kingdom halls? Why aren't they using every means possible to get the message out to the world, using some of their vast wealth to spread the message via radio, tv, etc?

Post your favorite saying
by Scully ini was just pondering how the wts has, for over a century, been able to convince people to do what is contrary to their best interests with fear tactics that armageddon is coming soon, and i came up with what is going to be my pet phrase for a while:.
"only religion has the power to compel people to embrace sheer stupidity in the name of faith.
" ~ scully, december 28, 2006. i googled it, and didn't see that anyone else has claimed it, so until someone else finds an attribution for it, i'm claiming it as my own.

"A faith that cannot withstand collision with the truth, is not worth many regrets" Arthur C.Cook
Galatians 4:16 "Well then, have I become your enemy because I tell you the truth?" (NWT)
2 Corinthians 10:12 "For we do not dare to class ourselves among some or compare ourselves with some who recommend themselves. Certainly they in measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves with themselves have no understanding." (Who's this sound like?)

I read through the previous posts then got sidetrackd, so sorry if I repeat what someone else may have posted in the meantime.
It seems I read somewhere the exact figures on how many times "good news of the kingdom" is in the NT (just a few), as opposed to "good news about the Christ" (majority).
The WT prides itself that it's good news is different than other religions. The May 1, 1981 Watchtower, page 17 tells us to compare the king of gospel from Christendom with that of JW's, that they are not one and the same. Witnesses gospel is that God's kingdom was established in 1914.
The Bible's good news is about Christ, his coming, ransom and ressurection, along with what it meant for mankind. Quite a different good news. Galations 1:8,9 says anyone declaring a different good news would be accursed, so I think they are in "hot water".
The NT tells us all the glory and honor should go to Jesus, every knee bending to him, yet if you talk to much about Jesus to a JW, they get uncomfortable, because they talk about Jehovah instead. I began taking "chicken track" notes (the kind I had my children do when they were little), the last monhs of our attending meetings (5 years ago now). I was shocked how very little Jesus was talked about, unless there was an actual talk on his life. And the holy spirit? Practically nil. Most of the time you'd hear Jesus' name, was at the conclusion of prayer. For those still attending, try tracking how many times Jehovah, Jesus, holy spirity, faithful slave, organization, etc., is mentioned...I think you too will be shocked as I was.

I think this is a problem many struggle with when they leave. A good friend from 20 years ago just called yesterday, having visited his old cong from the past and hearing rumors about our whole family leaving. Instead of believing everything, he decided to call for himself (which only a couple others have bothered to do). He was excited to find others who have left too. He still goes, and keeps his views pretty much to himself for his familys sake, but unfortunately, he doesn't even know if there is a god. We told him, many, and many on this forum I think, are perhaps agnostic, believing in a supreme being, creator, but not really sure if he is having a hand in man's affairs today. He was relieved to know he wasn't an athiest. Personally, I have found comfort in reading the NT, using various translations. It has been a source of strength for my spirituality. One of my little granddaughters has recently ask her mom to read the Bible at night to her (she's 8), and this is bringing up some questions. Like others have said, there's nothing wrong in saying you're not sure of the answer. I remember Jesus words about the greatest commandments, so instilling these principles in our childrens lives will do much to making them happy, valuable citizens as they grow up. I also feel it's important to let them know why you left because if there are any relatives still in the WT, eventually they will be putting pressure for them to return to save themselves and you. One JW in our old cong told his young granddaughter he was sorry she was going to die at Armageddon. My mom-in-law still tells my nieces about what will happen if they don't listen to her. So, there is great pressure on these little ones, and the best defense for them is knowledge.
Best of luck with your young ones.

What do I do with all this WT literature?
by LennyinBluemont inwe have tons of bound volumes, bound kms and many books.
i only plan on keeping a few of the older books with the really insane, humiliating crap, like sewing machines being a sign of the last days.
what should i do with the rest?

I seem to recall that Alan F. was looking for old KM's. Personally, I've kept one of everything. The cd-rom's sometimes reword the older pubs, and many can't be found on the cd-roms. A number of times we made copies of actual articles etc (because we might tamper with the cd-rom). I wish I'd kept my back issues of the magazines (I burned all but one copy of each). I would now write on the front in black ink marker various websites (Watchtower research, JWD etc) so anyone who picked them up in a laundry, reststop bathroom etc, would perhaps get curious.

WT LIES in the bible teach book
by Zico inwe all know the watchtower soicety can be deceitful at times.
one place i've noticed their deceit is in their main 'bible' study/cult introduction book 'what does the bible really teach?
designed for a jw holding a bible study with an interested person, this books tries to convince the person being studied with, that this religion knows the truth about the bible.

Even if I found out the teachings of the Wt were somehow true, I could NEVER, NEVER go back to that organization that has done so much lying and deceiving. They are so very hypocritical! I can't believe I didn't see through this 40 years ago. I'm so thankful to people like Barb and Joe Anderson, Richard Rawe, Ray Franz and so many others, who didn't need the internet to see the falsehood of this organization.
